It's a small draw by 2026 standards, but the drop tells you something real: even a niche, low-volume category is opening up to candidates who wouldn't have stood a chance six months ago.
IRCC issued 250 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to candidates in the Senior Managers with Canadian Work Experience category, requiring a minimum CRS score of 389. Candidates needed an Express Entry profile created before the draw's tie-breaking rule of September 1, 2026 at 11:05 p.m. UTC to be included. This was Express Entry round #444 — the 56th of 2026 — and only the third time IRCC has run a dedicated draw for this category since introducing it in March.

The math here is simple: senior managers with Canadian work experience are a small, specific pool. IRCC pulls the top scorers first, and each successive draw has to reach further down the list to fill even a modest number of invitations. Going from 429 to 392 to 389 in three rounds means the highest-scoring candidates in this category have largely already been invited — what's left is a pool of managers with somewhat lower CRS profiles, mostly built on age, education, and time in Canada rather than a maxed-out score.
The invitation count also matters. At 250 ITAs — half of July's 500 — IRCC didn't need to reach as deep into the pool to fill the round, yet the cutoff still fell. That points to genuine growth in the number of eligible candidates sitting in the 385–395 range, not just a bigger draw scraping the bottom.
If your CRS score is 389 or higher and you have Canadian work experience in a senior management role (NOC TEER 0 occupations): you should have received an ITA, provided your profile predates the September 1 tie-break. If you qualified and weren't invited, double-check that your occupation and Canadian work history are entered correctly — this category is narrow enough that a coding error can knock you out of eligibility entirely.
If your score sits in the high 370s to 388: you're now closer to qualifying for this category than at any point since it launched. You have 60 days from September 16 — until around November 15, 2026 — to submit a complete permanent residence application. You'll need proof of your Canadian work experience in a qualifying senior management role, language test results, an ECA if any of your education is foreign, police certificates from every country you've lived in for 6+ months since age 18, proof of funds (unless you qualify for a CEC-style exemption), and an immigration medical exam.
This was the second Express Entry draw in as many days, following a CEC round on September 15 at CRS 519. That brings September's draw count to five so far: a PNP round, two CEC rounds, a healthcare and social services round, and this senior managers draw.
