Newfoundland and Labrador issued 208 invitations on August 10, 2026 — 186 through the NLPNP and 22 through the Atlantic Immigration Program — pushing its 2026 total to 2,197.
Newfoundland and Labrador ran its tenth selection round of 2026 on August 10, issuing 208 invitations — 186 through the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) and 22 through the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP). After a wild swing from the province's smallest-ever round in July to its biggest of the year two weeks later, this draw is a return to something closer to normal.
| Program | Invitations |
|---|
| Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) | 186 |
| Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) | 22 |
| Total | 208 |
The NLPNP took 89.4% of this round, back in line with its usual majority share after the AIP briefly overtook it in July. This pushes Newfoundland and Labrador's 2026 total to 2,197 invitations across both programs.
The province's rounds have swung sharply all year — from a high of 445 in March, down to just 57 in July, then back up to 445 again on July 28. August 10's total of 208 lands right in the middle of that range, closer to the province's typical monthly pace than either extreme.
| Date | Total | NLPNP | AIP |
|---|
| March 6, 2026 | 445 | 362 | 83 |
| March 30, 2026 | 245 | 209 | 36 |
| April 13, 2026 | 210 | 177 | 33 |
| May 1, 2026 | 190 | 157 | 33 |
| May 11, 2026 | 186 | 168 | 18 |
| May 28, 2026 | 103 | 84 | 19 |
| June 10, 2026 | 108 | 89 | 19 |
| July 10, 2026 | 57 | 17 | 40 |
| July 28, 2026 | 445 | 400 | 45 |
| August 10, 2026 | 208 | 186 | 22 |
Under the province's Expression of Interest (EOI) prioritization framework, candidates can receive preference based on factors including employment in healthcare, sales and service, rural communities, and occupations with lower representation in the existing pool. No stream- or occupation-specific breakdown was published for this particular round.
If you have an active EOI in the pool: this round drew from roughly the same size of pool as most of 2026's rounds — not the deep dip of July 10, and not the exceptionally large pull of July 28. If you weren't invited this time, your odds next round depend more on your EOI ranking than on the province suddenly running another 445-invitation outlier.
If you were just invited: you have 60 days to submit a complete application. NLPNP applications are filed by you directly; AIP applications go through your designated employer — confirm today that your employer has everything ready if you're on the Atlantic track.
If you're not yet in the pool: register your Expression of Interest now. A job offer in the province, in-demand occupations, strong language scores, and a genuine intention to settle all strengthen your ranking.
An invitation isn't a nomination, and a nomination isn't a permanent resident visa. Per IRCC's August 10, 2026 processing update:
| Path | Processing time |
|---|
| Base PNP | 13 months |
| Enhanced PNP (Express Entry–linked) | 7 months |
| Atlantic Immigration Program | 26 months |
An enhanced NLPNP nomination adds 600 CRS points to an Express Entry profile and clears federally in about 7 months — base PNP now runs a month slower than it did in July, per IRCC's latest processing refresh. The AIP route remains the slowest of the three at the federal stage, at 26 months.
Tip
If your EOI has been sitting in the pool for close to a year, check its status now. Newfoundland and Labrador expires an Expression of Interest after 12 months — if you're not selected before then, you drop out and have to re-submit. With round sizes bouncing between 57 and 445 all year, a stale profile is an easy way to miss a large round entirely.
Newfoundland and Labrador doesn't publish a draw calendar, and 2026 has shown no fixed cadence — the last three rounds alone ranged from 57 to 445 to 208. We report what the last ten rounds actually did. We don't predict what the eleventh will do.
The eleventh round of the year broke a pattern that had held since January. On August 18, 2026, Newfoundland and Labrador issued 122 invitations — every single one through the NLPNP, with zero through the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP). It's the province's first draw of 2026 to exclude AIP candidates entirely; every other round this year, even the smallest ones, included at least a handful of AIP invitations.
| Date | Total | NLPNP | AIP |
|---|
| July 28, 2026 | 445 | 400 | 45 |
| August 10, 2026 | 208 | 186 | 22 |
| August 18, 2026 | 122 | 122 | 0 |
This pushes the province's 2026 total to 2,197 invitations — 1,849 through the NLPNP (85%) and 348 through the AIP (15%). CIC News reached out to Newfoundland and Labrador's Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism about the narrowed selection but hadn't received a comment as of publication, so it isn't yet clear whether this is a one-off round or a shift in how the province plans to balance the two programs going forward. As with prior rounds, no stream- or occupation-specific breakdown was published.
What this means for you: if you're pursuing the AIP route specifically, this round is a reminder that your program isn't guaranteed a share of every draw, even though it has been in every round until now. If you have an active NLPNP-eligible EOI, this draw's 122 invitations came from a smaller pool than July 28's 400, so ranking near the top of the pool still matters more than the program's overall size in any given month. Anyone invited on August 18 has the same 60-day deadline to submit a complete application.
Two rounds after excluding the Atlantic Immigration Program entirely, Newfoundland and Labrador swung the other way. On August 26, 2026, the province issued 140 invitations — 94 through the NLPNP and 46 through the AIP. That AIP total is the program's highest single-round count since March 6 (83 selections), and its 32.9% share of this round is the largest AIP has taken of any 2026 draw outside the unusually small July 10 round (where AIP made up 40 of just 57 invitations).
| Date | Total | NLPNP | AIP | AIP share |
|---|
| August 10, 2026 | 208 | 186 | 22 | 10.6% |
| August 18, 2026 | 122 | 122 | 0 | 0% |
| August 26, 2026 | 140 | 94 | 46 | 32.9% |
Read the last two rounds together and a pattern emerges: rather than holding a fixed NLPNP/AIP split every time, the province appears to be running the two programs in alternating batches — a round with no AIP selections at all, followed one week later by a round where AIP takes nearly a third of invitations. If that holds, AIP-track candidates shouldn't read a zero-AIP round as the program losing priority — it may simply be due for its turn next.
This is the province's twelfth selection round of 2026 and its third in August alone. The three August rounds combined have issued 470 invitations, pushing Newfoundland and Labrador's 2026 total to 2,459 — 2,065 through the NLPNP (84%) and 394 through the AIP (16%). For comparison, the province issued 2,049 invitations across the same January–August window in 2025, across only seven rounds — 2026 is running about 410 invitations ahead of last year's pace, spread across nearly twice as many selection events.
What this means for you: if you're on the AIP track and missed the August 18 round, this draw is your evidence that exclusion from one round doesn't signal the program winding down — it took the largest single-round share of any regular 2026 draw just eight days later. If you have an active NLPNP-track EOI, note that this round's 94 NLPNP invitations is its smallest NLPNP-specific count since May 28 (84), so a larger AIP allocation this time did come at the NLPNP pool's expense. The same 60-day application deadline applies to everyone invited on August 26.
