CEC's cutoff barely moved on July 21 — down just one point to 516. If you're watching this category to time your profile, the small move matters less than what it confirms: CEC has held in a tight 507–518 band all year, and it's still where most Express Entry applicants actually get through.

What happened

On July 21, 2026, IRCC issued 2,000 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates at a minimum CRS score of 516, according to CIC News, citing IRCC's official rounds-of-invitations page. The tie-breaking rule selected profiles created before 5:33 p.m. UTC on May 26, 2026.

This was round #40 — the 12th CEC draw of 2026 — one point lower than the July 7 CEC round (CRS 517, also 2,000 ITAs). It sat between PNP on July 20 (511 ITAs, CRS 744) and the French draw on July 22 (5,000 ITAs, CRS 399) in a busy four-draw week that closed with the first-ever Skilled Military Recruits round on July 23.

Why a one-point move isn't news — and what is

A one-point drop between draws two weeks apart is normal noise, not a trend. CEC has invited 2,000-a-round consistently since April, and the cutoff has stayed inside a 10-point band (507 to 518) for the entire year. If you're checking this draw hoping for a signal to time your application, there isn't one here — CEC is simply the steadiest category IRCC runs.

What is worth noting: the tie-break date moved forward by only nine days compared to July 7 (May 26 vs. May 17-ish territory implied by the prior round's pace), which tells you new CEC-eligible profiles are entering the pool at a healthy, steady rate. That's a sign of a stable pipeline of candidates finishing a year of Canadian work experience — not a shrinking pool like French or a starved one like Skilled Military Recruits.

Twelve CEC draws this year have issued 45,250 ITAs — the single largest source of invitations in 2026, ahead of French (40,500) and well ahead of PNP (6,450). If you have one year of skilled Canadian work experience, CEC is still the most reliable door into permanent residence.

What this means for you

If you were invited: you have 60 days from July 21 — until around September 19, 2026 — to submit a complete permanent residence application.
