BC PNP Innovate Draw August 20: 602 ITAs, the Biggest Round of the Year, as the Wage Bar Falls to $55/Hour

British Columbia ran its Innovate: High Economic Impact draw on August 20, 2026, issuing 602 invitations to apply — the largest single Innovate round anywhere in 2026. The reason it grew: the wage threshold fell to $55/hour and $110,000/year, the lowest bar BC has set all year for its job-offer route.

What happened

Per the official BC PNP invitations page (last updated August 20, 2026), invitations went out through two selection factors running in parallel, as they always do in Innovate rounds:

That's the biggest Innovate round of the year by a clear margin, and the first time this stream has topped 600 invitations in a single draw.

Why this draw is different: the wage route flipped

Since May, BC's Innovate rounds have leaned on the registration-score route to fill most of their seats. August 20 flipped that.

Two things happened at once. First, the wage bar kept falling — down another $3/hour and $5,000/year from July, and now $7/hour below where it sat back in June. Second, that lower bar pulled in enough new job-offer candidates that the wage route (337) outinvited the score route (265) for the first time since May. In July, score-based candidates were the majority of the round. In August, wage-based candidates are.

The registration-score cutoff, meanwhile, held flat at 132 for a second straight round — so if your score qualified in July, it qualifies now. The growth in this draw came entirely from BC reaching further down the wage ladder, not from relaxing the score side.

What this means for you

If you have a BC job offer at $55/hour ($110,000/year) or more in a TEER 0–3 occupation: this is the easiest that wage bar has been all year. If your offer sat between $55 and $58/hour, you were shut out in July and are in play now — check your BC PNP registration status.

If your registration score is 132 or higher: nothing changed for you specifically, but the cutoff has now held for two consecutive rounds after dropping from 136 in June. That's two data points, not a guarantee, but it suggests 132 may be closer to a floor than a ceiling right now.

If you're below both lines: the wage threshold has now fallen in three of the last four Innovate rounds ($62 → $59 → $58 → $55, with one uptick at June's $62). If your job offer is close — say $50–54/hour — a raise or a stronger total-compensation package (bonus, benefits counted toward the threshold where eligible) could put you over the line before the next round.

If you got invited

You have 30 days from invitation — until around September 19, 2026 — to submit a complete application through the BCPNP Online portal. You'll need:

• If invited on wage: a current employment letter on company letterhead confirming hourly wage or annual salary, job title with NOC code, duties, and hours per week, matching what you claimed at registration.
• If invited on score: verifiable documentation for every score component — language test results, an ECA for foreign credentials, and BC work experience evidence if it counted toward your score.
• Provincial registration fee: $1,150 CAD, paid at submission.
• Federal Express Entry profile: keep it active and accurate. A BC nomination adds 600 CRS points once confirmed.

How BC's 2026 Innovate rounds have run

Innovate has been the least predictable of BC's three Look West pillars this year — its wage threshold has moved every single round, unlike the steadily-falling Care and Build cutoffs. August 20 is the fourth Innovate round since May and the second in a row to grow, after June's dip to 279. If the pattern holds, the next round is likely two to four weeks out, though BC does not publish a draw calendar.
