BC invited 714 Innovate candidates on September 24, 2026 — its largest high-economic-impact round yet. The wage threshold dropped to $52/hour and $105,000/year, the lowest bar all year.
British Columbia ran its Innovate: High Economic Impact draw on September 24, 2026, issuing 714 invitations to apply — the largest single Innovate round of the year, beating August's previous record by more than 100 invitations. The reason it grew: the wage threshold fell to $52/hour and $105,000/year, the lowest bar BC has set for this stream all year.
Per the official BC PNP invitations page (last updated September 24, 2026), invitations went out through the same two selection factors BC always runs in parallel for Innovate rounds:
| Selection factor | Requirement | Invitations |
|---|
| Wage / job offer | Minimum $52/hour and $105,000/year, job offer in NOC TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 | 426 |
| Registration score | Minimum 131 points | 288 |
| Total | | 714 |
This was the eighth Innovate round of 2026, and it issued more invitations than any of the previous seven — pushing BC's year-to-date Innovate total past 3,974 invitations.
August's record of 602 invitations lasted barely a month. September beat it by dropping the wage threshold again — the third consecutive drop since June's peak.
| Draw date | Wage threshold | Wage ITAs | Score threshold | Score ITAs | Total |
|---|
| May 14 | $59/hr, $120k/yr | 225 | 135 | 212 | 437 |
| June 18 | $62/hr, $125k/yr | 130 | 136 | 149 | 279 |
| July 16 | $58/hr, $115k/yr | 223 | 132 | 346 | 569 |
| August 20 | $55/hr, $110k/yr | 337 | 132 | 265 | 602 |
| September 24 | $52/hr, $105k/yr | 426 | 131 | 288 | 714 |
The wage route keeps doing the heavy lifting. At $55/hour in August, wage-based ITAs (337) had already overtaken score-based ones (265) for the first time since May. In September, that gap widened further — 426 wage invitations against 288 on score, meaning nearly 6 in 10 of this round's invitations went to people with a qualifying job offer rather than a high registration score.
The registration-score cutoff barely moved, dropping just one point to 131 after two straight rounds at 132. If your score qualified in July or August, it almost certainly qualifies now — the real action in this draw was entirely on the wage side.
If you have a BC job offer at $52/hour ($105,000/year) or more in a TEER 0–3 occupation: this is the easiest that wage bar has been all year, and by a clear margin. If your offer sat between $52 and $55/hour, you were shut out in August and are in play now — check your BC PNP registration status.
If your registration score is 131 or higher: you qualify, but the score cutoff has moved only one point in three rounds (132 → 132 → 131). That stability suggests the score route has found something close to a floor, while the wage route is where BC is actually expanding access.
If you're below both lines: the wage threshold has now fallen in three straight rounds since June's $62/hour peak — $62 → $58 → $55 → $52. That's a $10/hour drop in three months. If your job offer is close — say $48–51/hour — a modest raise or a stronger total-compensation package (bonus, benefits counted toward the threshold where eligible) could put you over the line before the next round.
Tip
A falling wage threshold three rounds in a row is not a guarantee it keeps falling — June's jump to $62/hour proved BC will raise the bar when it wants to slow a stream down. If you're within $3–4/hour of qualifying, get your compensation letter updated now. Waiting for an even lower threshold risks missing a round where BC reverses course.
You have 30 days from invitation — until around October 24, 2026 — to submit a complete application through the BCPNP Online portal. You'll need:
- If invited on wage: a current employment letter on company letterhead confirming hourly wage or annual salary, job title with NOC code, duties, and hours per week, matching what you claimed at registration.
- If invited on score: verifiable documentation for every score component — language test results, an ECA for foreign credentials, and BC work experience evidence if it counted toward your score.
- Provincial registration fee: $1,150 CAD, paid at submission.
- Federal Express Entry profile: keep it active and accurate. A BC nomination adds 600 CRS points once confirmed.
Innovate has been the least predictable of BC's three Look West pillars this year — its wage threshold has moved almost every round, unlike the steadily-falling Care and Build cutoffs. September 24 is the fifth Innovate round since May and the third consecutive round to grow in size, following July's 569 and August's 602. If the pattern holds, the next round is likely two to four weeks out, though BC does not publish a draw calendar.
